Class Reunion

What a party! Last week we went to Winslow for my class reunion. In Winslow they really do know how to party. We met up with everyone Friday night at the old "Root Beer Stand", this is where it was so awkward, not recognizing people, because you haven't seen them for 10 or 20 years. We brought our families, so this helped, at least someone to talk to- After that the adults went out to Ronnie Linstra's house, which was amazing. We really couldn't see the house, it was dark, but it is right by the creek. He has excavated the back of his land to where it felt almost like a pit. It has the same giant rocks as the creek that were already there, and he has installed oil lamps bordering it. He even has a refrigerator, and sound system installed in the rocks. (I think, it looked like it) Anyway, it was an awesome set up. Plus being half a mile from the creek what more could you want? Growing up the creek was my high light of summer. I could dive off of rocks, and swim all day. Ok, going back to the reunion, we were just told to bring what we wanted to drink, and there would be designated drivers to take us home. Interesting for Mark. Of course we drank water-what were you thinking? It was a great place to visit and catch up. The next morning they toured the new high school, and rented the outdoor pool from 10-12. At 2 we had a softball game against the class older than us, that was really fun. I was seriously nervous about this game! I felt like a dork. Mom quit reading....I really did try putting the glove on my right hand! So I was a dork. When we first went out to the feild Bret announces I'm pitching, seriously where was the immodium? I was smart and deligated this to Germaine. Softball was definetely in another life time for me! Not so great for me, but fun. Good thing we had Germaine, who played bare foot because he forgot his shoes, but he still got a home run! Who needs Nike? After the game we had a BBQ by Vargas feild. That night was a closing party, we all need closing parties, and it was held at PT's Bar. There was 80's music and a dj- I really had a great time visiting with everyone. Mark had a great time leaving, and has lots of great stories to tell at work. Justine and Kimber both were nervous about the whole thing, I was nervous about the stories they would be told, but we really had a great time. Justine said she wishes her class was small like that- and the way it felt. They really had fun with Tom Breeze, he's such a funny guy. Looking forward to the next one!

Spencer

Monica is Spencer's mom, but before that she was and probably still is, Mark's favorite cousin. From what I heard, they wanted to marry each other, until they were about 8yrs old- With their mom's being close sisters, they pretty much grew up together. They are the same age, went to school together,& lots of family camp outs. I seriously think they could have been twins, they think alot alike, and their personalities are so similar! This last time seeing Monica, I couldn't believe the similarities between her and Justine!! There is a picture of them sitting together on the swing, they look so much alike! In fact, Justine has the shorts Monica is wearing. Genetics are real- The first time I met Monica was when Mark & I were engaged, and we met at Spencer's baby blessing in Provo, while Rob was at BYU. They are amazing people! Spencer and Justine have a great relationship, back to those genetics. We were able to witness him open his missionary call, so exciting! Also we were able to go to Boise for a weekend and his farewell. Rob and Monica are so organized, and had everything planned...temple trip with Spencer, they took us out on their boat Saturday, and an awesome party Saturday night. Spencer's friend, Landon, from the 4th grade, and same ward, celebrated his farewell too-he's headed to Washington DC, and gave their talks together as well as entered the MTC together! Their other buddy, Alex sent us a text, he got his call to Tokyo!! (Justine and Kimber want another road trip to Boise for his farewell!)We all loved it there, it is a beautiful area, fun ward, great bishop (lol), I wonder if Mark would mind me selling the house, and horses for a boat and Boise? Spencer is going to be amazing in PARAGUAY, his farewell talk sounded like he had already been! Rob, and Monica thanks for your awesome examples, and hospitality while we were there!! We love you guys!

Topaz Mountain

.....First of all, you'll have to turn off the music on the blog, because this slide show came with a song! This was our first campout of the year, TOPAZ MOUNTAIN, wow. We went with Mark's brother's family, Gary, Jen, Cassie, & Chase. Mark and Gary have childhood memories of this place, hammering rocks for topaz. Not quite what Jen and I had in mind. Lots of dirt, antelope, beetles, snakes, lizards...good thing we have trailers! Gary was very serious about this stuff, naming every type of gem. (How does he know this stuff?)- Priceless. It is an experience out there. Serious Rock Hounds gave us a few tips, they came all the way from Alabama! They recommended a store for us in Delta, we did stop there, that is where the girls bought their 1970's sunglasses, that had been in the store since 1970! I think Joe Dirt owns the store. I'm looking forward to Payson Canyon-

California

We went to California for Spring Break. We flew out of Salt Lake the same day Jordan was flying to Argentina! It was great to see him, and surprise him! Our hotel was outside of San Jose. We rented a car and saw most of that area, Monterey Bay, San Francisco, Oakland, many places in between! We had a great time, even if it was a little cold.

Did I Miss Spring?

This last spring has been a blur. Partly because it was winter weather- the other part was the craziness of all the events that came and went. I think it started with Justine's Prom, Kimber's Jr.High Play, Sring Break trip to California, Grandma Sam's funeral in Winslow, Az., Justine's election for student council, business trip to Phoenix where we also got to spend time with the neices and nephews, another dance for Justine, Graduation, and all the parties before graduation, and after! I don't think I can remember the time going so fast. Why couldn't one of my pregnancies fly like that? I'll make a picture show to catch you all up!

Poor Oz!

Oz had his manhood taken away yesterday...that is just information for Chase. He was right, we needed a hot day- it wasn't exactly hot, but warmer. Next Oz will be separated from his mom, poor guy.

Grandma Sam

Dear Grandma Sam,
I miss our Sunday night visits!! All of your stories of growing up. I always slowed down to listen to those. It reminded me of the movie "Fried Green Tomatoes". I knew the time was coming when I would treasure those phone calls. I always thought that I would fall apart when the time came for you to go. Each time we came to visit I could see you getting a little weaker, not your mind, just your body. It was so hard for me to leave. So much of my heart was still there. When I got the call that you were gone, my first words were, "Good For Her"!! I know you didn't want to leave all the people you loved. I am sure those last few weeks you put up a good fight. Although I have had my moments of tears, they are just selfish tears, I really was so happy for you. The morning of your funeral, I didn't think I was going to be able to get through it, I was crying and so mad I had forgotten waterproof mascara!! We went for a drive out to your grave to put the wreath on before the funeral. I was holding back tears...Mark drove up, and we were debating about putting the wreath out. (We usually go to Mormon funerals, the flowers are already at the church.) I was ready to just get out and set the wreath up, and there were people working in orange jumpsuits!! Mark started laughing, and said "Holy Crap Kristin, Where are We? They have prisoners here!" Needless to say, we left. As we were driving away, a worker came crawling out of the hole they dug for you. I think we were shocked into hysteria, we were laughing so hard. Justine and Kimber started asking questions about your funeral, if it was going to be weird like in the Tommy Boy movie. If we were going to have to grab a handful of dirt and say something. After that, I did just fine. In the pictures we look like we were more at a party, not a funeral. But I like to think you were having one heck of a party, and we got to crash it!!
I love you Grandma Sam, a bushel and a peck!!
~Kristin

P.S. Give Haven a hug for me!!

"Starting With February"

It started in February...Sweethearts Dance- So much fun!

The last party with Jordan!! Mixed Emotions~We were all crying, but we were so happy! Jordan has been such a great influence to our family. Justine was saying goodbye to her best friend-(We also have an arranged marriage lined up with his parents, & Jordan, he doesn't have cows, but he brought us lots of fruit!!!) Kimber was saying goodbye to her Big Brother, and Mark and I shed tears because we've grown to love this guy! Those poor people in Argentina that are going to have to let him go one day will totally understand! We love you Elder Jordy!!

February ended with a bang! Justine convinced these guys to be in her Hannah Montana "Nobody's Perfect" lip sync contest at the High School...Oh My....They really were great! Totally choreographed, they didn't miss a beat! In fact they got to perform it twice, and again at the talent show in March-(I won't be sad if I never hear that song again!!)

THE PRACTICES!!!!!
P.S. I have tried to get this picture bigger! Dang Costco won't open yet! Anyway, Kevin, Preston, and Justine never could have done so well in the lip sync without Jordan's and Kimber's help!!
